One of my favourite mediums is Half Empty Ball Point Pen On Toilet Paper. The toilet paper available at hospitals is recycled and therefore has a wonderful texture to it and sometimes surface variation. The ball point pens carried by nurses are almost always half empty which makes them great to draw with, as you can achieve various tonal values without worrying about "ink blots". My interest in drawing started with HEBPPOTP, whenever I end up in hospital without having time to bring anything. This is Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, on the bumpy variant found in the MiddleMore E.D.

Wrake's brilliant entries to the May and June challenges using Z-Brush made me want to try the software for myself. I found it a little bizarre and hard to use though, as the only 3D work I've ever done before are with dinky little free software that are absolutely nothing like Z-Brush at all, so I decided to practice/play with it a little before drawing my picture. Unfortunately the trial period ran out before I could do anything more exciting than this.

When I was still at school, one of the credits for the Entomology science badge involved observation etc of an insect. I'm not one for keeping spiders in glass jars so I followed one of the caterpillars out front from egg to butterfly (which conveniently also gave me a credit for some sort of circle-of-life thingy for something else)

This is a picture of Grendel I drew when I was a kid, probably the first thing I'd ever drawn (I'm not your usual "been drawing my whole life" artists). For some reason the only thing I can remember about this is that I only drew it to annoy one of my friends.....

Don't worry if you're confused (however, if you aren't confused, that is vaguely worrying...) This was my 10-minute contribution to the IFX comic that was happening in 2007. I really had no idea what to do or how the whole thing worked but I gave it a try anyway. The previous two pages had a giant mutated chicken on a rampage, and something about Jessica Simpson, so I felt it necessary to add in her famous confusion over the difference between chicken and tuna.
